General Information

What can I expect during my first session?

Your first session is a conversation — not a test. Your therapist will ask gentle questions about what’s bringing you in, what you hope to change, and what support would feel most helpful. You’ll set goals together at a pace that feels comfortable.

Most sessions are 50 minutes. This gives you enough time to settle in, explore what’s going on, and leave with a sense of direction.

Many clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum. Over time, you and your therapist may shift to every other week or a schedule that fits your needs and progress.

Yes. Your privacy is protected. The only exceptions are rare situations involving safety — and we’ll always explain how that works.

Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the ability to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. You already have some strengths that you’ve used before, and for whatever reason, they aren’t working right now.  Perhaps this problem feels overwhelming and is making it difficult to access your past strengths. In our work together, I’ll help you identify what those strengths are and how to implement them again in what is happening now.

While friends and family are an important part of your support system, professional therapy can be a healing addition to your mental health. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, therapy is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.” Lastly, if your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, if you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.

Medication alone cannot solve all issues. What medication does is treat the symptoms. Our work together is designed to explore the root of the issue, dig deep into your behavior and teach strategies that can help you accomplish your personal and/or relational goals.
Medication can be effective and is sometimes needed in conjunction with therapy.

Services & Approach

What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer individual, couples, family, and group therapy. Our team uses evidence-based, relationship-centered approaches that help you understand patterns, build emotional resilience, and create meaningful change.

Yes. Telehealth sessions are available for clients in Texas who prefer the convenience of meeting from home or have busy schedules.

Absolutely. Finding the right fit matters. You’re welcome to request a specific therapist or ask for a recommendation based on your needs and personality.

Therapy is a collaborative process. Together, you’ll explore what’s happening beneath the surface, learn practical tools, and build emotional stability. You’re never expected to have all the answers — that’s what we’re here to explore with you.

Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, therapy will be different depending on the individual. We’ll tailor to your therapeutic approach specific needs.

We so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication is crucial to your success. After all, we only see each other for a session a week. It’s the work you do outside of our sessions that will really help you see your personal growth and development.

The choice to do individual or couples counseling is a personal one that your therapist will help you navigate, typically this conversation will occur during your intake or consultation process.

Booking & Preparation

How do I book a session?

Reception will help you book your first appointment, afterwards you will schedule directly with your provider.

Generally speaking you can begin therapy without a referral. However some insurance plans do requite this. It is important you check your specific insurance plan.

You don’t have to prepare anything formal. Bringing a few thoughts about what’s been challenging or what you hope to change can be helpful, but it’s completely okay if you’re not sure where to start.

Life happens. If you need to adjust your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible so we can offer the time to someone else.

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time therapy can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek therapy in the first place.
